International Archives Day 9th June-2013
Exhibition on "Life and work of Amir Khusrau" From 9th June to 30th June, 2013
The exhibition depicts the merging of two great civilization - Hindu and Islamic - in a pluralistic synthesis that continues till today as Hindustani Culture.
Amir khusrau was a notable 13th Cent. Sufi poet (Persian and Hindi) who worked for a composite culture in the Indian Subcontinent, contributing significantly to literature & music. He is regarded as the father of qawali and originated khayal and Tarana style of music. Invention of sitar and tabla is traditionally attributed to him.
